Looking for a More Sustainable Lifestyle? Consider Living at Highland Pinetree

Eight million tons of plastic trash end up in the ocean every year—enough to stack five trash bags on every foot of coastline over the whole world. That’s a lot of trash! Imagine the impact this has on our planet. That’s why it is important for everyone to start living a more sustainable lifestyle.

At Highland Pinetree Apartments , we want to do all we can to protect the environment and promote sustainable living—not just by recycling, but also by preserving water and reducing the need for paper and plastic in the first place.

Preserving Water

In an area prone to droughts, we are careful not to waste water on our property. To do this, we have drought-tolerant landscaping. Instead of planting non-native plants that need a lot of water, we use native plants that can thrive in dry areas with minimal water. We also have a drip irrigation system that efficiently distributes water throughout the property without wasting it.

Next, we save on water with our low-flow toilets . Most toilets use 3.5 gallons of water every time they flush, but the toilets at Highland Pinetree use about 20 percent less. Each low-flow toilet saves up to 13,000 gallons of water per year.

Reducing the Need for Paper and Plastic

Before recycling is even necessary, we eliminate the need for paper and plastic in the first place. We do this by having all of our payment processes, service requests, communications, and notices online. This is convenient for our residents and eliminates the need for unnecessary paper waste.

In our community, we strive to provide quality services to help make your life as a resident a little easier. Visit our new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more!

Encouraging Recycling

One of the best ways to live green is to recycle. We have recycling bins in our office, and we encourage all residents to recycle as well. Items you can recycle include plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, paper, and flattened cardboard. However, you cannot recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.

Close to Highland Pinetree, you can recycle at Fullerton Recycling . This small change in habit can make a big difference for our planet.

We’re Excited to Announce Organic Waste Recycling!

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate! This initiative will help keep millions of pounds of food waste out of landfills and turn them into compost and renewable natural gas. We’ll keep you up to date as this program expands throughout the state.

Here at Highland Pinetree, we want to do everything we can to promote sustainable living and care for the environment. If you are looking for a place to live a more sustainable lifestyle, contact us today!
